JW need the Watchtower for spiritual guidance. Feb 15, 1981 p.19. the GB discouraged personal reading of the Bible. “If you have idle time, take up a hobby” don’t read the bible.
There is no other mediator between God and man than Jesus. No organization, no other man.
WTS teaches that only the anointed class can say that Jesus is their mediator. essentially the GB is the mediator for all those with an earthly hope. Gal 1:6ff another gospel is accursed.
only this group will go to heaven. final count achieved in 1935. NT mostly written for them. Is the number of 144000 literal or symbolic? are they from the tribes of Israel, all men, all virgins? You can’t make a statement half literal or half symbolic. is it true that only 144000 go to heaven? and this number started at Pentecost until 144000 have been chosen. that would be those that died faithful. Its very possible that in the first 2 centuries more than 144000 Christians died as faithful martyrs.
Only the anointed ones are the real Christians based on the teaching of the 144,000 class. A “Christian” is the one who has a “covenantal” relationship with Christ. The only covenanted, anointed followers of Christ are those who are of that special calling. So, in essence, all the rest (millions) who call themselves Jehovah’s Witnesses are not viewed as real Christians according to WT teachings. You are merely a “friend” of the Christians.
The cross
Early WTS had the cross as a symbol used in the society, until Rutherford. Beware of those who come to you with another “Jesus”. Is the WTS correct that Jesus died on a stake? page 661 another picture of a man on a cross. Justin Lipsis writes there that Jesus died on this kind of a cross. the previous reference is about other people dying on a stake. But Justin Lipsis never claimed that Jesus died on a stake.
